am i the only one who think's a lot of the amazing stories terry come up with are fabricated or completely untrue?
every week he tells us how he by chance ran into a jw, mormon, evangilcial, etc.
and comes up with witty answers every time to counter every point they make and than have them running in fear.
As sooner7 pointed out, if you consider he works in a bookstore, it is no wonder he meets many people of various religions.
Now, I don't really read much of Terry's topics because I have found them too tedious, but many here like his stuff.
I don't blame you for being skeptical, though.
How much of whatever people post can you believe?
I don't know.
Everyone has their own BS meter.
Whether it's calibrated properly or not, who can say?

amongst the many arguments for and against creation the probability arguments stands out.
the improbability of generating the necessary proteins by chanceor the genetic information to produce themto balloon beyond comprehension.
... the odds of getting even one functional protein of modest length (150 amino acids) by chance from a prebioitc soup is no better than 1 chance in 10164. meyer continues, another way to say that is the probability of finding a functional protein by chance alone is a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion times smaller than the odds of finding a single specific particle among all the particles in the universe.. the evidence for the probability of origin of life arising from darwins warm little pond seems to have vanished beyond the realm of any possibilityregardless of any early earth scenario.. i really, really want to put it in the grave because i think its an embaressment to the theists and thinking humans in general; its right up there with 'noahs ark has been found' and 'humans have less chromosomes than monkeys', but for some reason people dont see through it.
Oh & by the way, you cannot PROVE God exists, so your entire life is pointless.
I cannot prove, nor have I ever claimed to be able to prove, God exists.
Now, you and your minions claim that life came from some sort of primordial soup.
If you would get your head out of your ass, look around, and use what little brainpower you have, you might, and I mean might, come to your own conclusion, instead of letting someone else think for you.

i happened to be driving to pick up my wife and [step]daughter from the kh last night.
i was listening to the radio and happened to press the preset button in my car.
surprisingly, two of them connected me to two different christian radio stations!
Surprisingly, TWO of them connected me to TWO different Christian radio stations! I didn't recall setting them as such. The JW in your family did.
Trust me.
I did the same thing while I was active.

i know many just want to shout yes to that second question, but hold on a second.. i go back and forth wondering if there is evil intent to manipulate and lie to the "flock" through the pages of watchtower and from the platform at conventions or if they really believe most of their own nonsense.. i won't load my post with endless examples (but feel free to use them) of this.
i will post just two to make my thoughts.
sometimes, i read comments about their long-term planning to get more money or lose less money and gain more members or retain more of the captives.
First example: I think it's just "sector rotation".
The same thing happens in the stock market. The oil stocks take a dump for three days, and become the "now" topics for negative news. At the same time, the financials go up for three days, and become topics of positive news.
Second example: I think they envision a change in the law. They think that the local, state, or federal officials might start requiring some type of special fee or tax for religious organizations who have any type of meeting that takes place in the homes of it's members.
Just speculating, of course.

how did you start smoking or chewing and get addicted?
i'm curious after talking about it on the other thread.
i think it's fair to find out personal stories before declaring them selfish for smoking.
What's the problem?
Obama smokes.

on 9/11, an elder: it's sad but exciting!on a loved one dying: we can cope far better with this due to the resurection.on the tsunami, an elder: if they think this is bad, wait untill they see what happens at armageddon (smiling).on armageddon, an elder: i want to be able to see the people dying.on execution at god's hands, a pioneer: it'll put them out of their misery.on the swine flu virus, a pioneer: it'll mean less people for jehovah to kill at armageddon.on the birth of my daughter, a prominent elder: be carefull not to fall into the trap of 'baby worship'on the death of my non jw grandmother, an elder: be carefull at the funeral not to become involved in false worship (don't sing my grans favourite hymn)on the topic of my non jw sisters wedding, the po: if it falls on the weekend of the convention, you should make your stand & not go to the wedding.there is, of course, a normal response to each of these situations.
there is a human response.
one that is touched by the tragedy.
When I was a member of the "family religion", my cousin told me I was going to hell for smoking cigarettes......................and HE smoked pot AND get drunk before every church service in which he was one of the alter boys.
I had another cousin who told me I was going to hell because I used profanity, but is was okay for her to boss family members around like she was in the Marine Corps.
There are judgemental, over the top, self-righteous people everywhere, in every religion.
You just have to choose in which religion you are able to tolerate these attitudes.

Oh, I almost forgot.
You cannot PROVE that life originated in a "soup" of any kind, so this thread is pointless.
I rest MY case..............FOREVER.
Goodnight, and sleep tight.

I have never seen so much effort put forward in trying to prove someone does not exist.
What a sad lot.
A truthful observation, followed by profanity and insults.
By self-proclaimed "intelligent, rational people", at that!
